Connectbeam

Phillips Design has had some quick turnarounds, but this one set a new record. We got a referral from one of our clients to Connectbeam.

Original Connectbeam Reference ImageConnectbeam is based in Mountain View, California and markets enterprise level social software with two core services: social bookmarking and content aggregation of links and metadata. Their flagship product is named Spotlight – it integrates and enhances social collaboration through MS Outlook, SharePoint, Confluence and other web-based collaborative environments.

Connectbeam had a tradeshow coming up and wanted a video for the home page of their website, to introduce Spotlight. Other than written documentation, the only thing they had was the illustration at right, which conveyed the product name. Oh, and one more thing – project completion was in exactly one week.

After we picked ourselves up off the floor (and because Lee loves a challenge), we said, “Sure, why not… We can do it.”

We got the go ahead at the end of the day Monday. We now had two days to research, understand, design, concept, storyboard, present and prep artwork, which would then be handed off to the Flash developer on Thursday, so it could be assembled and finished by end of day Friday.

The following storyboard was developed:Connectbeam Storyboard

With some corrections and changes, the client enthusiastically approved. We handed our files off to the “Flash God” Phuong Ngyuen, of Melonhead Studios. A few more corrections and changes and… Ta Da!

Here’s the final:

The client was happy:

ConnectBeam Flow Diagram“You guys are really phenomenal!  Please express my sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed. I’ve got 20 years of history doing this sort of work and you are one of the most responsive teams I’ve ever worked with, and one of the brightest. It is nice to see a group quickly internalize what is important to convey, both in terms of words and emotion. It was a pleasure working with you on this and I look forward to lots more!!”

Connectbeam also had us work on their website and a series of software flow diagrams. You can visit the site here.Connectbeam Website
